Cannabis and Alzheimer’s: Exploring New Potential Treatments for Agitation

This webinar will review how substances from the cannabis plant might help manage agitation and other responsive behaviours in people living with Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers are studying cannabinoids as a possible safer alternative to current medications, but more research is needed. The session will also highlight a new study testing cannabidiol (CBD) for reducing agitation in Alzheimer’s disease.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Lanctôt is a senior scientist and director of the Geriatric Psychopharmacology Research Group at Sunnybrook Research Institute. She holds the Bernick Chair in Geriatric Psychopharmacology at Sunnybrook and the University of Toronto. She is also research co-director of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook and a professor at U of T.
